Rodeo Austin
Around March of each year, enjoy two weeks of bull-riding, livestock competitions, and star-studded concerts at the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo. Each year the rodeo and livestock show serves up hundreds of thousands fo dollars in scholarships and auction proceeds for the benefit of Texas youth.
Originating in 1938, what began as a Beef Expo then Livestock Show for Travis County expanded to include rodeo events, concerts by big-name acts, and carnival-like rides and shows. In 2000 competitive events were opened up to many surrounding counties and by 2003 some events were opened to students from all Texas counties.
The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo takes place at the Travis County Expo Center.
Events
The Rodeo Austin hosts not only a stock show where the best of the best show off their barrel racing horses, geldings up to aged mares and aged stallions - It is also home to rodeo events like: bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
