WELCOME POLE BENDING FANS
What is Pole Bending?
Pole Bending is an amateur rodeo event that features a horse and one mounted rider, running a weaving or serpentine path around six poles arranged in a line.
The rider will take up a gallop and ride past all the poles turning at the last pole. The rider and horse will make a serpentine path through the poles, that is passing on alternating hands and leads through the poles. When the last pole is reached, the horse and rider continue in a mirror pattern through the poles back to the first one. When the pattern is completed the horse and rider then gallop back past the poles and through the timer.
This event is usually seen in high school and college rodeos as well as American Quarter Horse Association sanctioned shows and many gymkhana events.
What is the Nez Percé Stake Race
The Nez Percé Stake Race is a type of pole bending race. It is one of five competition game events approved for specialty shows by the Appaloosa Horse Club.
The race was inspired by the games played by the Nez Percé exhibiting their riding skills.
Unlike traditional pole bending races, two horses race on identical courses laid out side-by-side with the loser eliminated and the winner moving up the brackets to race the other winners.
