WELCOME RODEO NEWS FANS
Cowboys For Kids
WHO WE ARE Cowboys for Kids, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization. It was formed by a group of very dedicated volunteers who donate their time and money to helping children. We only have one paid employee, if the funds are available. Work is done out of our homes. Not having large overhead expenses makes it possible for us to give more back to the children of our community. Our motto is "Working Together. Making a Difference." Working together, we can make a positive difference in our community and in the lives of children. This is why we work so hard all year long.
WHAT WE DO
Our annual major fund raiser, COWBOYS FOR KIDS RODEO WEEKEND, is held around the last of March or first of April. It's a great fun-filled family event with lots of activities for old and young alike; stick horse races, sheep riding, kids games, BBQ dinner, roping, auction, great rodeo action and more!
Among the many fun activities is our stick horse race.
Home Depot donated the lumber and our great volunteers donate their time to put together the stick horses for our rodeo event.
Clarence Gilyard ("Matlock", "Walker, Texas Ranger"), is Honorary Chairman of Cowboys for Kids, Inc. Clarence lends his support by participating in our event, along with other celebrities: Obba Babatunde ("John Q"), Reginald T. Dorsey, ("Return to Lonesome Dove"), Steven Williams ("The X-Files"), Mike Moroff ("La Bamba"), Dale Berry ("The Alamo"), Burton Gilliam ("Blazing Saddles"), Kenny Call (World Champion Steer Roper), Glynn Turman ("A Different World"), Steve Stevens, Jr. and Steven R. Stevens with the Stevens Group of Hollywood, Jeremy Howard ("How the Grinch Stole Christmas") and more. We sponsor many activities for underprivileged children: host birthday parties at local shelters, sponsor special outings to pro-football/b-ball games, trips to zoos and museums and provide scholarships. One of our favorite is our "Santa's Helpers" program. Each Christmas, Santa, along with his CFK helpers, donates gifts to children in foster homes and shelters and for families who are in need of help.

In addition to the programs we sponsor with Cowboys for Kids, we also work with and donate to other non-profit organizations. We try to make a positive impact on family and children's issues.

Thanks to a gracious donation to CFK from Cindy Gordon and Tony Runge and also from Natalie Reilly of AMEX, we sent $2,300 to a family in Pascagoula, MS. who lost all of their possessions when Hurricane Katrina came through. They heeded the warning to evacuate the storm, then came back to find their home and all of their belongings were lost to the hurricane. The family has local ties here in Phoenix. The family has three children; 8 years, 6 years and 1 year. We were glad to be able to lend a helping hand in their time of need.
