WELCOME RODEO NEWS FANS
Behind the Scenes of the DNFCR
The Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo wrapped up in Pocatello today, which means organizers will now start planning for next year. The DNCFR is one of only two national rodeo's in the country. And it takes nearly a year of planning and preparation to get everything organized. "We go year-round. immediately after this rodeo the board of directors meet and start planning next years...immediately," said Dee Greene, Emeritus Chairman:
Most of us only spend a few hours at the rodeo enjoying the events and never see the 250 volunteers who spend time putting it all together. Greene, "From the time the new year comes until rodeo time there's 20 or 30 people that other than their work time they're almost full-time rodeo."
In the next few months volunteers will start working with sponsors and advertisers, and in December the livestock will be selected. But since they aren't paid, they have to find the time between their regular jobs, and families. "Anything that's raising money they're working on from late summer until rodeo time," said Greene. The volunteers say they're willing to sacrifice their time for the rodeo because it's something they love. "We're very good at what we do. We've been doing it for 21, well almost 22 years now," said Don Moore, Rodeo Arena Director:
The Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo is scheduled to be back in Pocatello next spring for its 23rd year. And even though the events ended tonight rodeo volunteers aren't done, they will be back at the Holt Arena tomorrow to start taking everything down.
